    RESEARCH MANAGER POSITION SUMMARY
    The Research Manager will oversee day-to-day activities of multiple research projects on topics such as health, water, sanitation in India. The Research Manager will lead dialogues with partners such as project researchers, NGOs, and government authorities, oversee data survey companies hired to conduct field research, and provide inputs related to study design, data analysis, and dissemination of findings. The position offers an opportunity to participate in cutting edge research using data generated from the projects. The Research Manager will contribute to the center’s evidence-based policy efforts and its impact in the field of health and development. The position is based in Delhi and requires extensive travel to field sites and is a one-year contract with the option of renewal.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    COORDINATE SURVEY DESIGN WITH THE PRINCIPAL AND CO-INVESTIGATORS

    Lead in field planning and design
    1.Develop tools and protocol to ensure surveys are delivered on time and in budget
    2.Gather comparable data to complement and compare ongoing research, eg: get access to NSSO data, Census data and other datasets that would be valuable to the research priorities of the center
    3.Optimize the survey instrument for data gathering in the field, including overseeing the data survey companies’ survey testing and software testing

    Coordinate with and regularly update the US-based research team on project progress
    1.Assist in the dissemination of the research findings through participation in and hosting of conferences and workshops

    Propose new research ideas and brain storm research proposals with other center staff
    1.Design and conduct research as requested on an ad-hoc basis by those within the project teams

    LEAD RESEARCH IMPLEMENTATION WITH WITH OVERSIGHT OF TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS OF RESEARCH SPONSORS, ASSISTANTS, GOALS, AND, OBJECTIVES

    Responsible for planning and executing implementation of research projects and requirements
    1.Develop and execute timelines, action items, and equipment needed to complete research projects
    2.Develop and maintain research activity calendar, including research assistant shifts, and anticipating setbacks
    3.Recommend enhancements to methodology and protocol of the study
    4.Perform regular audits of data collection process and quality according to research standards and requirements
    4.Monitor research subjects and environments, providing written record of significant events that transpire during research activities

    Provide guidance and direction to research assistants and monitor the progress of research
    1.Develop and train RAs on data cleaning and analysis, and communicating data insights
    2.Provide ongoing coaching and extensive protocol training to field research assistants to ensure high quality performance oResponsible for ensuring that all on-site research activities are executed with fidelity

    Responsible for the center’s technology, equipment and other materials
    1.Manage the mobile device management software that monitors the lab’s electronic tablets
    2.Manage the inventory of electronic tablets, internet hotspots, and other lab tech Responsible for co-leading operational efforts related to center’s research initiatives

    Execute development of anticipated and other ongoing research endeavors
    1.Work directly with Country Director and Associate Director of Research in identifying potential research projects
    2.Budget and timeline development in addition to determining personnel and other resource needs
    3.Lead pilot and initial exploratory work for anticipated projects oDevelop surveys, conduct literature reviews, and manage process to ensure that projects are properly informed by principal investigators and other experts
    4.Responsible for managing research operations according to professional standards and applicable regulations

    Co-lead the planning and execution of key events and meetings in coordination with the Program Manager
    1.Co-develop and co-lead project-specific meeting agenda items oDrive efforts in coordination with other team members and departments to execute mission-important events

    Assist Associate Director of Research in cultivating and managing relationships with key policymakers and project stakeholders
    1.Lead efforts to keep center staff and administration apprised of research projects
    2.Serve as lead in managing the relationship between the center and sponsors
    3.Initiate new partnerships and recruit partner centers for upcoming projects

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    1. An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD)in Economics, Public Health, or Statistics required?Technical training in development economics or a minimum of 2 years experience as a project manager in a related field required
    2. Supervision experience preferred
    3. Fluency and excellent communication skills in English (required) and another Indian language (preferred)
    4. Knowledge of R, Python, Stata (strongly preferred), SAS, or other data analysis software
    5. Familiarity with randomized controlled trials
